ACCESS Announces New Midtown Little Rock Property for Growing Vocational Training and Adult Programs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK, AR (December 19, 2024) – ACCESS is proud to announce the purchase of the property located at 7814 T Street in midtown Little Rock, formerly home to Miss Selma’s Schools. This new site, conveniently located just minutes from the ACCESS Academy and Young Adult Campus, will become a central hub for ACCESS’s expanding vocational training and adult programs.

ACCESS plans to renovate the property, including repurposing the existing half-gymnasium into a dynamic space to support the organization’s mission to provide greater opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Once completed, the renovated site will house the ACCESS Life Adult Program and serve as the headquarters for Project SEARCH Arkansas: ACCESS Initiative. This on-the-job vocational training program currently operates across eight host business sites throughout the state, helping adults with developmental disabilities gain employment skills and independence.

The new location will also provide space for additional social and leisure gatherings, further expanding programming opportunities hosted by ACCESS.

"We are excited for this opportunity to expand our vocational training and adult programs," said Tammy Simmons, Executive Director and Co-founder of ACCESS. "This project will help fulfill a growing need in our community by providing individuals of all abilities with purpose-driven opportunities to develop skills, gain independence, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Everyone deserves the chance to reach their full potential, and we are proud to help create those pathways."

Zoning ordinances have already been approved, and renovations will begin in the coming weeks. The project will include the demolition of existing vacant homes on the property and the cleaning of the site. However, the existing gymnasium and classroom building will be retained and reimagined as a vibrant space for vocational education and recreational activities. Notably, the gymnasium’s large exterior overhead doors will remain, facilitating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor areas—perfect for fostering skill development, independence, and personal growth.
