Susan Hontz began her journey as a dedicated Skills Trainer at Mercy Project SEARCH in Fort Smith, AR, in 2024. For the past 10 months, she has found great fulfillment in supporting adult interns as they develop the skills needed for competitive employment. Watching these interns grow in confidence and ability has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her role. Prior to joining Project SEARCH, Susan worked as a Paraeducator in various school settings, where she gained extensive experience working one-on-one with students with autism and supporting special education classrooms, including her most recent role in a behavioral support classroom. Her background in education has equipped her with valuable skills in individualized instruction, behavioral support, and fostering independence. Susan is passionate about her work and looks forward to each day at Project SEARCH. Outside of work, she enjoys visiting her new granddaughter, reading, going to garage sales, teaching a 2- and 3-year-old Sunday School class at her church, and spending quality time with family.
