The Meaning of Giving Tuesday

ACCESS is so excited to participate in #GivingTuesdayAR on Tuesday, November 29, 2016! But what is “#GivingTuesdayAR,” anyway?! This special day is a state-wide effort supported by the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance and is part of a national movement that encourages holiday giving rather than holiday spending. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are designed to boost sales, Giving Tuesday seeks to raise awareness about, and funds and resources for local nonprofits. This year, we invite you to join our efforts to support state-of-the-art technology used to assist individuals with language and learning disabilities—a vital part of ACCESS’ mission to expand individual potential through innovative instruction.

Director of Development, Kellie Wilhite explains, “This movement was created to impact lives during a time of year when people can clearly see the needs of people within their community. Giving to an organization you care about is a powerful and emotionally fulfilling way to celebrate the holiday season.…we expect this year’s Giving Tuesday to be a great success.” When you visit one of ACCESS’ campuses or speak with ACCESS parents, you will begin to understand the needs we serve and our vision for the future. But if you are trying to comprehend the difference that ACCESS makes in the lives of its families, well, look at the faces filling our hallways, classrooms, gardens, and playgrounds. That’s worth more than any Black Friday find or Cyber Monday deal—because it’s utterly priceless.
