Evaluations

Many times, parents, educators, or medical professionals have concerns that a child may exhibit signs of a learning disability or developmental delay. Too often, a “wait and see” approach is taken. At ACCESS, we help families pinpoint a child’s exact strengths and challenges to help them develop a plan to reach their full potential.

Evaluation Resources

The ACCESS Evaluation and Resource Center (AERC) offers a variety of resources to give families the tools they need to identify, understand, and develop a plan for a variety of diagnoses. From comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and rule outs to targeted evaluations and testing, specialized academic therapy to mental health services, the AERC can help every family craft a plan to best prepare their child for success.

  • Diagnostic and Evaluation Services

ACCESS offers parents and educators in-house psychological examiners for expert developmental and diagnostic evaluation services. The ACCESS team performs a variety of evaluations at the AERC for children, teenagers, and young adults diagnosing disabilities such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), specific learning disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and more. Our evaluators are also experienced in diagnosing and treating children who have mental health diagnoses such as anxiety and depression.

  • Mental Health Evaluations

Many times, children or adolescents struggle with mental health and behavioral issues for a variety of reasons, from coping with a learning or developmental disability, traumatizing events, school-related anxiety, and more. At ACCESS, we help children and adolescents, along with their family members, identify these mental health issues, and resolve them through appropriate methods of mental health counseling. Mental health evaluations may be done as part of a comprehensive evaluation, or they may be performed separately with one of our Licensed Clinical Social Workers.

  • Therapy Evaluations

Individual speech, occupational, and physical therapy evaluations can aid in discovering developmental delays or specific diagnoses related to communication, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, feeding difficulties, and more.

Our team of therapists can help families identify delays in specific areas individuals looking to determine if therapy is needed. They also work closely with our team of psychological evaluators in diagnosing learning or developmental delays and disabilities.

  • Academic Therapy Services

    Unlocking Potential: Parent Testimonials

    • Comprehensive Evaluation

"Working with the psychological examiner at ACCESS changed our lives. She was able to discover the correct diagnoses and help us create a 504 plan to fit our son's needs. It turns out he had been struggling with a variety of learning disabilities that no one knew about."

      -Brandy Frank, ACCESS Parent
    • Mental Health Therapy

Before receiving PCIT, our morning routines were chaotic and exhausting. We were unable to go anywhere outside of our home because of my son's social anxiety. After starting therapy at ACCESS, we went from stressful mornings full of resistance and defiance to our son being our son being able to get dressed on his own and our whole family walking out the door without tears! Our time together in therapy was a safe place as we built trust and nurtured our love for one another. Each week we all looked forward to our special time together.

      -Crystal Pennington, ACCESS Parent
    • Academic Therapy

We have seen huge results in both reading and comprehension, as well as increased confidence in both kids! Our children never complain about going to their academioc therapy sessions because they are having fun and know they are learning how to succeed in their school work.

    • Comprehensive Evaluation

"Testing through the AERC gave our family insight into our daughter's learning and attention issues. This led us to mental health and academic therapy outpatient services through ACCESS that have helped our daughter and whole family thrive. Recommendations from the test results and her new therapists have also provided us with the accommodations she needs in the classroom to be a successful, happy learner!"

    • Mental Health Therapy

Mental Health counseling has molded my son on how to express his emotions in a verbal way. While telling me about an interaction he had with his peer this week, he said '...it made me feel a bit uncomfaortable.' This was great progress on expressing his feelings.
