Facilities Maintenance & Grounds Assistant

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager ensures facilities, grounds and horticulture products are well-cared for, safe and adequate to support business operations.



    1. Carry out inspections of the grounds to identify and resolve issues
    2. Carry out activities to ensure grounds at both campuses are kept in top condition
      1. Mow grass with riding lawn mower and push lawn mower
      2. Weed eat and edge where necessary
      3. Trim trees, bushes or where necessary
      4. Grind leaves
      5. Water where irrigation system does not
      6. Blow sidewalks, parking lot, breezeway
      7. Power wash sidewalks
      8. Maintain flower beds; weed, plant, mulch, etc.
      9. Spray/dust areas to control weeds and insects
    3. Monitor equipment and supply inventory and request items when necessary

    1. Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
    2. Complete minor repairs and inspections of equipment and electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other systems at both facilities
    3. Complete general repairs such as patching walls, painting, hanging shelves, anchoring/securing book shelves or other furniture, etc.
    4. Maintain relationships with contractors and service providers
    5. Provide maintenance logs and report on daily activities
    6. Maintain assignment as maintenance worker
    7. Complete annual preventive maintenance as scheduled for both campuses

    1. Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
    2. Assist custodial staff as needed to ensure facilities at both campuses are kept in top condition
  4. FLEET:

    1. Carry out inspections of the fleet to identify and resolve issues
    2. Complete scheduled periodic maintenance
    3. Ensure vehicles are kept clean inside and out
    4. Obtain CDL
  5. SAFETY:

    1. Follow health and safety policies
    2. Compliance with O.S.H.A., A.D.A., HAZ-MAT, playground equipment safety, Childcare licensure or other Medicaid programs such as EIDT, CARF, fire code, etc.)
  6. Completes relevant and approved continuing professional education each year as required to maintain professional standards.
  7. Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet all driving requirements for ACCESS
  8. May perform other related or non-related duties, as assigned.

    1. Must be licensed to drive in the State of Arkansas.
    2. Must have a high school diploma, GED or vocational/ trade school completion

    1. One year experience in a maintenance, grounds, custodial role or quality assurance

    1. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
    2. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    3. Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
    4. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
    5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    7. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.


  1. Minimal travel is required for this position.
  2. ACCESS drivers are required to maintain a valid Driver’s License, current auto liability insurance and registration, a clean driving record, and physical ability to drive to local locations.
