Kelsea Sherrick, M.S., CCC-SLP has been a speech therapist at ACCESS since the summer of 2019. She is currently the speech therapist in Mr. Matt's Intermediate Upper classroom on the Academy campus. Kelsea greatly enjoys working with the adolescent population as she thrives on teaching higher level language concepts and life skills. Kelsea can often be found in the classroom where she enhances the learning experiences of her clients. As a speech therapist, Kelsea knows that given the right tools, every child can be successful and wants each child to feel confident in their abilities across all environments. Kelsea loves working at ACCESS because it allows her to do just that. While Kelsea has only been a speech therapist at ACCESS since 2019, she has been a part of ACCESS for several years prior. Kelsea obtained a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2016. After this, Kelsea joined the ACCESS team at the early childhood campus as a teaching assistant and floater. In 2017, she left this position to attend graduate school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. During graduate school, Kelsea spent a year as a graduate assistant, at ACCESS Academy, where she was inspired to work with the adolescent population. In 2019, she recieved high honors, when graduating with a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology, and immediately began her clinical fellowship at ACCESS. Kelsea obtained her CCC's from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association in 2018. She has attended several LAMP trainings where she has learned to better serve users of AAC devices. Kelsea was drawn to this career by a love of helping others and enjoys teaching her clients about this love too. The best example of this, is the homeless bag project which her class completed as a pragmatics lesson to discuss empathy for others. If you ask her clients, they will tell you: Ms. Kelsea enjoys a good game and doesn't let them win, loves organization (her MANY games are in rainbow order), and that while she enjoys working with them in the kitchen, she does not enjoy, or partake in, cooking at home. Most of all they will tell you that she is OBSESSED with her three dogs and never turns down an opportunity to talk about them...ever.
