Shelby Gatewood, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Shelby Gatewood, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist who joined the ACCESS team in August 2020 after graduating from the University of Central Arkansas DPT program. She currently collaborates with a variety of classrooms and treats clients from toddler age through Pre-K 4. When treating each client, Shelby's ultimate goal is to promote independence in gross motor tasks for improved participation at school, in the community, and at home. Her goal on a daily basis is to make the kiddos smile and understand that they are loved when they walk into the front doors of ACCESS.

While in physical therapy school, Shelby strengthened her knowledge of pediatrics by participating in the Leadersip Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) program, an interdisciplinary training in Central Arkansas to improve the health of children of all abilities. She loves that ACCESS allows her to continue pursuing a team approach in working so closely with other therapists, teachers, and parents to provide the most comprehensive treatment for each client.

Shelby is a native of Laurel, Mississippi, but she has been proud to call Arkansas home for the past five years. She moved to Arkansas to earn her phyiscal therapy degree after graduating from the University of Alabama in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. (Don't worry, though! She has throroughly enjoyed rooting for the Hogs when they are not playing Bama!) In her spare time, Shelby loves to travel, complete puzzles, read, play tennis, and explore all of the beauty that Arkansas has to offer.
